Erik ten Hag ignores Andre Onana apology after Man Utd’s defeat at Bayern Munich

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag did not want to focus on the apology and error from goalkeeper Andre Onana following his side’s thrilling 4-3 loss at Bayern Munich

Erik ten Hag praised Andre Onana for taking responsibility for his error in Manchester United’s defeat at Bayern Munich but insisted the focus should be on the team and not individuals.

United were involved in a seven-goal thriller but despite showing late resilience and a promising start to the match, it was a fourth defeat in five games while Bayern could have scored more goals – hitting the post twice and spurning other opportunities.

Onana’s early howler gifted Bayern the opener from Leroy Sane’s long-range strike before Bayern doubled their lead four minutes later through Serge Gnabry. Those goals followed an encouraging start for the visitors, with Christian Eriksen and Facundo Pellistri – making only his second United start – spurning early chances.

Rasmus Hojlund scored his first United goal early in the second half to give Ten Hag’s side hope but minutes later Bayern restored their two-goal cushion after Harry Kane converted a penalty following Eriksen’s handball inside the area.
