Erik ten Hag admits he doesn’t know if Jadon Sancho will ever play for Manchester United again. The Englishman has been excluded from the Red Devils’ first team after an explosive falling out with his manager. Sancho is training away from the rest of the squad after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag for claiming he had lied about the reasons behind him not being picked in the squad to play against Arsenal earlier this month. Ten Hag stated that Sancho wasn’t selected due to “poor performances” in training, which the 23-year-old took exception to. Sancho went on to refute Ten Hag’s claims in a now-deleted social media post. He claimed he had been treated unfairly by his manager and was used as a”scapegoat”. But Ten Hag stood firm on his decision and sought an apology from his player – one which never came. When asked if he would consider selecting Sancho to play for United again in his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Brighton , Ten Hag replied: ‘I don’t know. We have a big game and we’re going into a new block of games, many games in a condensed programme. I will focus on that.’ Jadon Sancho has been excluded from Erik ten Hag’s squad (Image: GETTY) He was then quizzed on whether he had considered keeping the reason for Sancho’s absence against Arsenal in-house, rather than going public with it, but again Ten Hag stuck by his decision. ‘I’m always honest. You have to keep things inside, but sometimes you can’t. When I’m asked the question, I will be honest,’ he said before shutting down the line of questioning when pressed further on the situation. ‘He’s not available so, at this moment, he’s not important, because he can’t contribute to our performance and our result, so I block it out.’ Erik ten Hag doesn’t know if Jadon Sancho will ever return to the fold (Image: GETTY) ‘I don’t think this subject is important. I think what’s important is that I have to prepare my team. So that’s what I do. I prepare my team the best I can, I put all my effort into the players who are available. I go and prepare the team to give the best performance. ‘As a club, as a team, we have to deal with that [the outside noise]. But, once again, it has no importance on the coming games. For players who didn’t have so many opportunities, now they get their opportunity, so this is their chance to come into the team. We have a really good spirit and everyone is focusing on this game and the upcoming games.’
