The final of the T20 World Cup takes place today, weather permitting, with Jos Buttler’s England set to take on Babar Azam’s Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground
England and Pakistan are both hoping to become just the second team to win the T20 World Cup twice after the West Indies with the two sides meeting in this year’s final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
They were both beaten semi-finalists last year, with England crashing out to New Zealand and Pakistan losing to eventual winners Australia. However, they both won their semi-finals in impressive fashion, with Pakistan beating New Zealand by seven wickets and England thrashing India by ten wickets.
England look set to be without both Dawid Malan and Mark Wood after the pair missed the semi-final through injury and lost Reece Topley on the eve of the tournament to a freak ankle injury, with Tymal Mills replacing him. Pakistan, meanwhile, lost Fakhar Zaman after he aggravated a knee injury and was replaced by Mohammad Haris.
