Emmerdale rocked by new arrival as Dingle favourite gets blast from the past

Emmerdale stalwart Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick) will soon get a visit from a mystery man – and it leaves her shaking. In official spoilers released by ITV,  Sam Dingle (Sam Hooton) finds an old doll’s house in a skip which he brings it home to do up for baby Esther’s birthday. This brings back memories for his wife as it reminds Lydia of the one she had in the children’s home. As they work on the doll’s house, Lydia talks about the children’s home and her son, Toby. Despite everything to do with Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), the Dingles decide to celebrate Sam’s birthday. Emmerdale: Could Lydia be hiding something? Worried about her family’s finances, Lydia decides she wants to take on a second job. The next day, she announces she’s going to the Hide recruitment fair in search of another job. Despite Sam being unhappy with the situation,  Lydia goes to the fair, but things turn awkward when she bumps into her boss. Having not seen her since the children’s home, Craig is soon delighted to have found Lydia again – but is the feeling mutual? The Dingle favourite is left shaking by the encounter, but could Lydia be hiding something? Lydia didn’t have the best start in life after she was put into a children’s home. While there, she struck up a relationship with another boy and she fell pregnant.  Although, tragedy struck after Lydia gave birth to a stillborn baby, and in a moment of panic, she decided to bury him in the woods. The secret had haunted Lydia for years until the truth finally surfaced in 2019. Speaking about Lydia’s secret, Karen told Metro: “She has carried this secret for such a long time. She knows that the police will find her eventually and she doesn’t want to bring this to the Dingles’ door. “She definitely feels she should be punished. She has carried the shame of this for her whole adult life – there is no hiding from this anymore.” Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
