Emmerdale legend ‘quits’ ITV soap after 17 years and ‘could be killed off’

An Emmerdale star has reportedly quit his role on the ITV soap 17 years after joining the show, with Matthew Wolfenden apparently bowing out as David Metcalfe

Emmerdale favourite Matthew Wolfenden has reportedly quit his role as David Metcalfe on the ITV soap after 17 years.

The actor is said to be bowing out of the role after joining the show in 2006. It’s claimed the actor could even see his character be killed off, with recent storylines reportedly the reason for his exit from the show.

David has been at the centre of some huge plots over the years, including his partner Maya Stepney grooming and sexually abusing his teenaged son Jacob Gallagher. But according to sources, actor Matthew was keen to move on to new roles and is “ready for a change”.

Matthew, who is married to former Emmerdale star Charley Webb, is yet to confirm his departure from the soap he has been on for more than a decade, with Emmerdale also yet to announce the news. But according to sources, an exit is being worked on currently and it could see David die in a major twist.
