Emma Raducanu’s 16-month revolving door of coaches

From Nigel Sears through to the departure of Dmitry Tursunov, the US Open champion has had several voices trying to craft her game

Emma Raducanu’s coaching journey has been a rollercoaster ride since she burst onto the scene at Wimbledon in 2021.

The journey to this point, where she finds herself without a full-time coach again after parting ways with Dimitry Tursunov, has seen many changes and interim fixes.

Here is a detailed look back at the past 16 months and where she goes from here.

Englishman and coaching veteran Sears was brought in for a short time to guide Raducanu through her first WTA grass-court season. Having previously worked with Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic, Sears also once held the head coaching job for women’s tennis at the LTA and it is understood he applied pressure behind the scenes to help get Raducanu a wild card for Wimbledon.
