Ellie Simmonds fans break down as Strictly star learns she was branded ‘evil’ at birth

ITV viewers were left in tears as they watched Ellie Simmonds learning the heartbreaking news about her birth mother, who put her up for adoption when she was 10 days old. Ellie fronted the documentary My Secret Family, where she was devastated to realise her birth mother had been warned she would be seen as “evil and stupid” due to her being born with achondroplasia (dwarfism). The 28-year-old swimmer was heartbroken as she learned her mother had wished she had died at birth after medical professionals warned her about Ellie’s condition. Fans were left “emotional wrecks” as they tuned into the candid documentary.
