Eddie Nketiah is set to find his position at Arsenal coming under threat as the Gunners step up their interest in Ivan Toney ahead of a January move for the Brentford star
You have to admire Eddie Nketiah.
His mentality and belief are unshakeable and they are the qualities which really drive him as a player. Nketiah is a striker who simply refuses to give up. Even with Gabriel Jesus ahead of him in the pecking order, he is still determined to play.
And now Nketiah could face even more competition with Arsenal interested in Ivan Toney and, even if they do not get the Brentford striker in January, it is almost certain they will sign another top quality centre forward in the near future.
That would be bad news for Nketiah but the reason that Mikel Arteta likes him so much is his attitude. It’s why, on occasion, he’s even been given the captain’s armband. He skippered the team against Monaco in pre-season and even took it over briefly against Fulham in the Premier League when Martin Odegaard was substituted.
