Eddie Jones exclusive interview: I don’t always pick the best players – I pick the best team

This week marks the launch of the first Telegraph Rugby Podcast and in the first episode we sit down with England boss Jones

Once you have informed an old housemate that they are out of a job, even the trickiest selection decisions are probably less daunting.

Eddie Jones does not need a moment to pick out his toughest experience of dropping somebody. Towards the tail end of the 1998 Super Rugby campaign, his first as boss of the Brumbies, he confronted a horrible task.

“Definitely the most difficult one was David Knox, who I lived with,” Jones says of an ex-Randwick team-mate in an exclusive interview to launch the Telegraph Rugby Podcast.

“We played together, lived together, had a lot of fun together. Then I became the Brumbies coach and he was a 36-year-old No 10.
