DVSA MOT warning for all drivers as you could be hit with £1,000 fines

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Drivers have been warned not to forget their next MOT, or you could get up to a £1,000 fine.

An MOT test is an annual requirement for any car or vehicle older than three years – and must be done for the first time by the third anniversary of its registration.

Essentially, MOTs test various parts of your car including the battery, brakes, windscreen, seatbelts, and exhaust system, among many other areas – though not the engine itself, gearbox, or clutch.

Your vehicle will either ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ its MOT – and if you pass a certificate will be given to you, which is proof you’ve passed, and also lets you know when the next one is due.
