The Barbie movie has been a huge success, with the likes of Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish benefiting from the film’s influence as they both created songs for the flick
In a thrilling turn of events, pop sensation Dua Lipa is poised to secure her fourth number one single with the Barbie soundtrack song Dance The Night, which is rapidly ascending the UK charts.
The 27-year-old’s disco anthem, featured in the blockbuster movie about the iconic Mattel doll, is projected to leap two places and seize the top spot next Friday, as per the Official Charts Company’s initial predictions. If successful, this would shatter Dave and Central Cee’s impressive 10-week reign at number one with their hit track Sprinter.
Lipa has previously clinched the coveted top spot with her 2017 smash hit New Rules, 2018’s One Kiss in collaboration with Calvin Harris, and her 2021 team-up with music legend Sir Elton John on Cold Heart.
The influence of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, featuring Hollywood stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, extends further down the chart. Billie Eilish’s introspective track What Was I Made For?m another gem from the soundtrack, is currently set to retain its number two position. Meanwhile, the revamped version of Aqua’s Barbie World by rap powerhouses Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice is anticipated to claim the ninth spot in the upcoming week.
