‘Driving’ dog stopped behind wheel for speeding down street as animal’s owner fined

The pup was pulled over in a Slovakian village as the police appeared to find the funny side of the incident despite a 31-year-old man being charged for ‘violating traffic rules’

A dog was pulled over by police for speeding as it appeared to be behind the steering wheel of a car.

The brown hunting dog was caught on camera going over the speed limit in the western Slovakian village of Å terusy. Officers enjoyed the unusual incident – which saw the dog’s owner fined – as they jokingly shared details of it over social media.

A translated Facebook post put out on Friday by Polícia Slovenskej read: “Instead of a photo of the driver, a brown hunting dog was smiling beautifully into the camera, obediently sitting behind the wheel of a Å koda and peering through the windshield at promising young deer.” In reality, a 31-year-old man was in control of the car.

He was subsequently handed an immediate fine for the incident despite claiming that the dog suddenly jumped on his lap while driving. The police post continued: “We ruined the boy’s hunting plans and ended his wandering around the tent. An irresponsible driver, who was stopped by a patrol for speeding in the village of Å terusy, finally had something to explain.
