While traditional cruise control works best for longer journeys on wide open roads such as motorways, ACC systems can also be great on busier roads with a lot of traffic . It helps you to control your car's speed automatically, by using a radar system at the front of the car that scans the path ahead for other vehicles. To turn it on, you need to accelerate to your preferred speed and press the "set" button. When the car in front slows down, your car will either do the same or alert you to hit the brakes . ACC is one of the features insurance companies often look out for and can lead to lower premiums. One of the main issues with using ACC is that it may not work properly in certain weather conditions like heavy rain or fog, if there is mud or snow on the sensors, or if roads are slippery. Car models that have ACC include: Toyota Prius, BMW i5, Honda Accord, Subaru Impreza, Hyundai IONIQ6 and Mercedes EQE Sedan. It comes as research by Auto Trader revealed just 47 per cent of drivers consider that owning an EV would fit in with their lifestyle.
