Donald Trump hints at Twitter comeback as he congratulates Elon Musk

Donald Trump is expected back on Twitter on Monday (Image: Getty)Donald Trump has congratulated Elon Musk on closing the deal to purchase Twitter in a newly released statement.In his statement, the 45th President said: ‘Congratulations to Elon Musk on his purchase of Twitter.’Many people are saying that a change was needed, as the old management was too concerned with the woke agenda.’I have been told that my account will be back up and running on Monday – we will see.’He added: ‘Happy to be able to engage with an African-American owned-business.’Twitter’s new boss shared a message on Thursday intending to reassure advertisers that the service would not become “a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences”.He said: “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.”There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far-right wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”Mr Musk also reportedly sacked Twitter’s CEO Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.According to some reports, Mr Agrawal and Mr Segal were at the site’s headquarters at the time of the takeover and were escorted from the building.Had Mr Musk failed to reach the October 28 deadline for his takeover, a judge in Delaware – the US state where Twitter is incorporated – would have arranged a trial for November, Sky News has claimed.
