Dozens of communities could be host to new onshore wind farms in England as the Government loosens planning restrictions.
Government data shows 50 locations where planning applications for new wind farms have been turned down since 2015, the year planning restrictions were introduced.
Following pressure from backbench Conservative MPs, the Government is now expected to ease the de facto ban, with the new rules coming into immediate effect.
The changes are expected in a written ministerial statement on Tuesday and follow an amendment to the Energy Bill by Alok Sharma, the former president of the Cop26 climate summit, to loosen planning restrictions.
