A ‘prolific burglar’ is on trial after an elderly brother and sister were killed during a violent break-in in August 1993
A “prolific burglar” has gone on trial accused of murdering an elderly brother and sister nearly 30 years ago after a DNA breakthrough in the case.
Danville Neil, 65, is accused of killing Anne Castle, 74, and her Second World War veteran brother William Bryan, 71, during a violent break-in in August 1993.
The siblings died after being beaten and restrained as their home was ransacked and jewellery stolen, jurors at the Old Bailey heard.
Mr Neil was only identified as a suspect after advances in forensic technology found his DNA on a strap used to tie Bryan’s hands during the burglary, prosecutor Alison Morgan KC, said.
