It is a space where food is made and also where families can come together. However, it can also be the most expensive to renovate, especially if starting from scratch. Turning to DIY can save thousands of pounds, something which Hannah Giles, 27, from Portree, Isle of Skye, decided to do.The DIYer completely transformed her kitchen for just £100 and she spoke exclusively to My Local Toolbox to share exactly how she did it.Sharing all of her work and home style on her Instagram, Hannah transformed her outdated kitchen into a modern, dark and cosy space.She took inspiration from a mixture of styles including scan, mid-century and japandi interiors. We painted the existing tiles and cupboards, picked up some new hardware and used vinyl to cover the outdated worktops.’We actually left it the way we got it for a while until we decided what we wanted to do.’Once Hannah had her vision and inspiration, she got stuck into the work, painting the tiles first. Upcycling and shopping second-hand is a great way to do it and not only is it easier on your bank account, but it is so much better for our planet.’Hannah also advised those looking to do the same to stick to the style and interior design they want and to not let others dictate what is put in their home.The DIYer said: ‘If you want to paint your kitchen units orange or paint your walls black, just go for it. As long as you love it, that’s all that matters.’
