From the Basque country to Ibiza, Spain is blessed with beautiful beaches, which one will you choose?
With more than 600 Blue Flag beaches scattered around Spain’s enormous coastline and its islands, it can be tough to whittle down your choice. But whether you want endless stretches of sand, rocky coves or dramatic cliffs, you’ll find some of Europe’s safest and cleanest beaches in Spain.
Squeezed between Cala d’Or and Portocolom on Mallorca’s east coast, Cala Sa Nau is an intimate sandy cove surrounded by pine trees and low limestone and ochre cliffs. It sits at the end of a narrow fjord-like bay, which is easy to reach by car.
Stretching for about four miles south of Cadíz, La Barrosa offers plenty of sandy beach to go with its wooden promenade and seafood restaurants. The boardwalk enables people with limited mobility to reach La Barrosa’s soft sands and beautifully clear waters.
One of Menorca’s three Blue Flag beaches, Son Bou is easily accessible thanks to its car park. Follow the path through the dunes to its pale sands, clear waters, several beach bars and places to rent kayaks and pedalos. It’s next to a protected wetland, home to a rich array of birdlife.
