Homeowners in Dover are sleeping with sledgehammers by their beds and installing floodlights in their gardens after migrants entered properties.
Residents of Old Folkestone Road in Aycliffe, a short walk from a beach commonly used as a landing point by those not rescued at sea, have told of “frightening” encounters this week.
They described “desperate” migrants on the run from authorities entering a house, jumping into gardens and traversing fields near the local primary school. Some residents said that they had seen migrants in the school playground.
