Designing moments that matter

Whether indulging solo or luxuriating with loved ones, The Pacific Club Lounge is the ideal space, David Tonkin, GM of Pan Pacific Melbourne shares. ‘It offers guests a luxury retreat with a large outdoor terrace space that overlooks the famous Yarra River and Melbourne city skyline, perfect for enjoying sundowner or simply watching the world go by.’ With beautiful views and some bubbly in hand to toast with, celebrations spent there will be a memorable affair. The Pan Pacific Hotels are characterised by spectacular landmarks and signature hospitality. Pan Pacific Orchard, slated to launch in 2023 along Singapore’s famed shopping belt redefines luxury once more with a commitment to the environment. ‘The Pan Pacific Orchard extends the greenery of Orchard Road vertically onto a series of landscaped atriums in the sky. Beyond the guest experience, the design of the hotel allows the city to embrace the building as a vertical garden, which gives a densely built-up district not just a much-needed respite from the concrete jungle, but also a reminder that the built environment can and must coexist with nature,’ shares co-founder and principal architect Wong Mun Summ of WOHA, the firm behind the design. ‘The design and selection of the four terraces provide a different, varied experience that allow people to create great memories at the events that will be held there, and the leisure time spent there. It will be a new and very distinct landmark for the Orchard Road district.’ The landmark hotel is designed with four individual zones vertically – Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud – for guests to unwind. For a lush rainforest dining experience, Mosella on the level two Forest Terrace serves up sumptuous Mediterranean-Peruvian cuisine that will transport you to the dappled light of the forest floor, while the aqua bar located on the Beach Terrace surrounds you with palm trees and souring leafy pillars for an otherworldly experience in the tropics. Wong elaborates: ‘The Pan Pacific is designed in a way that allows guests to experience four different boutique hotels in one building, enveloping them in environments that showcase the tropical forest, botanic gardens, the beach, and at the very top, a skyscraper amongst the clouds.’ ‘Luxury will be reframed as making the right choices without having to make lifestyle sacrifices…’— Wong Mun Summ, co-founder and principal architect of WOHA Pan Pacific Orchard will offer guests a unique vertical garden to experience. On the Cloud Terrace, guests are welcome to use the spectacular ballroom with a sprawling foyer for their private events. The expansive ballroom seats 420 and comes with an event plaza surrounded by its own mirror pools and innovative solar canopy. For daytime events, the Garden Terrace welcomes guests with its grand foyer before revealing a perfectly manicured green lawn surrounded by beautiful cabanas to luxuriate in. The space sets the stage to create everlasting memories, from showstopping fashion events to meaningful personal celebrations. Above all, guests will be awed with breathtaking views of the city as each space provides an open concept lined with rich foliage. When asked about the firm’s design principles and take on luxury within the hospitality industry, Wong expounds: ‘Luxury will be reframed as making the right choices without having to make lifestyle sacrifices, and the Pan Pacific Orchard takes on this shift with its offerings and experiences. It reimagines the Orchard Road skyline and is an example of how we can build resilient, biophilic, friendly yet functional structures that coexist with nature, and provide the experiences that guests look forward to.’
