Florida’s Department of Health reported cases of dengue fever in Broward County and Miami-Dade. While there is currently no specific treatment for dengue, early detection can significantly reduce mortality
The rise in Dengue fever has prompted health officials in Florida to ask residents to look out for symptoms – as the state looks to keep cases under wraps.
Florida’s Department of Health confirmed cases of dengue, which transmit to humans through the bite of infected mosquitos, in Broward County, the home of Fort Lauderdale, and Miami-Dade County.
Two cases of the virus have been found in Broward County between July 30 and August 5. And 10 cases of dengue have been reported in Florida this year, with the majority coming from Miami-Dade County in July.
The Department of Health in Florida revealed: “Ten cases have been serotyped by PCR and in 2022 there were just two locally acquired dengue cases.”
