Arsenal new boy David Raya has warned Aaron Ramsdale that he is ready to push him all the way in a bid to wrestle the No.1 jersey away from the Gunners goalkeeper
David Raya is raring to go after joining Arsenal and is ready to “push” Aaron Ramsdale all the way for the No.1 spot at the Emirates.
The Gunners have signed the Spanish international from Brentford on a season-long loan deal for £3million with the option to make the move permanent next summer for a further £27m. However, the Gunners’ decision to court Raya when Ramsdale is already on the books has confused some pundits, who have questioned Mikel Arteta.
Ramsdale has firmly established himself as Arsenal’s No.1 since his switch from Sheffield United back in 2021, but Raya has his sights set on challenging for that berth at his new club.
After the formalities of the transfer were completed on Tuesday, the 27-year-old told Arsenalfc.com: “I can’t wait to be out there training with the lads and getting that GK union going. That’s a tight group that we’re always going to get along and push each other, so that’s going to be a healthy group in my opinion. I just can’t wait to get going and meet the lads.
