David de Gea considering retirement with Man Utd stars furious over his treatment

David de Gea has not signed for another club since his departure from Manchester United in the summer and he could retire as he waits for the right opportunity to come

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is considering a surprise retirement from football if he does not receive a proposal to become first-choice at a ‘major’ club.

The 32-year-old departed the Red Devils at the end of his contract in July after a successful 12-stay at Old Trafford. During his time in Manchester, De Gea kept 190 clean sheets in 545 appearances and won a number of major trophies, including the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Since his exit, De Gea has rejected several approaches and was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window. However, the Spain international has decided against joining any club as of yet and is waiting in the hope an offer comes from the right team and manager.

If the proposal does not arrive, The Guardian claim that De Gea could retire and end his professional career – less than two months into the new season. The ex-Atletico Madrid shot-stopper is still keeping himself fit and is eager to move to a club that will compete for honours at the highest level.
