Robert Saleh seems to have been convinced by Dalvin Cook that he’s the ideal running back for the New York Jets, but admitted that it’s not in his hands completely
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh appears to have become a huge fan of Dalvin Cook, after a fresh meeting with the free agent.
It was widely documented that Cook would be travelling to the New York Jets facility at Florham Park in New Jersey over the weekend, with the franchise acquiring more cap space after Aaron Rodgers restructured his contract. Cook has been a free agent since being released by the Minnesota Vikings, and another running back feeling the effects of a brutal 2023 offseason.
The Jets are still without running back Breece Hall, although Saleh did confirm he was a matter of weeks away from returning to practice. It’s one of the areas where the Jets lack depth, but Saleh initially acted like Cook’s visit didn’t mean he would sign.
“Call it a meet and greet. I don’t know about recruiting, but I think it’s more to get a feel and make the best decision for your family,” Saleh said to reporters after Sunday’s practice. But his mind had been changed less than 24 hours later, after admitting he was a “believer” in Cook’s future.
