Following his sensational release earlier this offseason, former Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook decided to follow Aaron Rodgers and sign with the New York Jets
Dalvin Cook sensationally revealed he opted to join the New York Jets to follow Aaron Rodgers after the four-time MVP took a monster pay cut.
Cook became one of the hottest free agents available on the market when he was suddenly released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason. The Jets were in need of options at running back due to the current status of Breece Hall as last season’s rookie is coming off an ACL tear.
On Thursday, Cook officially became a member of the Jets following a lengthy courting process in which he assessed his market after his shock release. The organisation parted with Cook in order to save cap, yet he remains one of the premier backs in the NFL – and represents a significant coup for the Jets.
New York have looked to build a competitive unit around Rodgers, who departed the Green Bay Packers after 18 seasons with the NFC North franchise. Cook is the latest big-name addition, and when asked by reporters why he chose the Jets, the 28-year-old suggested Rodgers’ was a key factor.
