The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly ready to release one of their quarterbacks after securing a trade for Trey Lance from NFL rival the San Francisco 49ers on Friday
The Dallas Cowboys will reportedly release one of their quarterbacks after acquiring Trey Lance.
A trade was announced on August 25 between the San Francisco 49ers for the quarterback. Lance had been vying for the starting spot with the Niners alongside Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold.
However, Lance will now be playing his football in Dallas after the Cowboys swapped a future fourth-round pick for the 23-year-old. Lance had been the No.3 overall pick for the Niners in 2021 but has played just eight games across his first two seasons in the NFL.
With the Cowboys acquiring a new QB, it means there is not much room on the roster for four quarterbacks. Dak Prescott is the expected starter in Dallas, with Cooper Rush and Will Grier all taking part during pre-season.
