The Satherleys celebrating their astonishing win (Image: Omaze UK/Youtube) A father-of-two saw his dream come true as he won a huge prize after entering a £35 raffle. Financial risk analyst Will Satherley, from Cardiff, was working in his garden “covered in wood chippings” when he realised he had missed a few calls. The man, who prior to buying this life-changing ticket had only entered a few low-stakes pub raffles, couldn’t possibly imagine he was about to learn he had become the winner of the competition’s grand prize. Omaze, the for-profit fundraising company partnering with charities who ran the raffle, only told Mr Satherley he had won a prize before showing up to his family home and announcing to him and his wife Carrie he had in fact become the owner of a stunning £3.5m home in the Cotswolds – and was to receive £100,000 too. He said: “[It’s a] dream come true, really, I don’t fully believe what’s happened.” The Satherleys work in finance (Image: Omaze UK/Youtube) In the video recording their reaction and the first time they saw their new home, Mrs Satherley can be heard saying: “It’s an absolute shock, it’s life-changing, really.” During an interview that followed the fantastic news, the father of two joked: “It was so surreal, my wife and I work in finance so it’s fair to say we’re not used to this level of excitement! “That night I kept checking my emails to make sure I hadn’t imagined the whole thing, in the end I couldn’t really sleep so I went back out to finish the gardening at 4:00am!” Mrs Satherley described the incredible win as “mind-boggling”. The Satherleys’ new residence includes four bedrooms, a home gym and a swimming pool. The family, which also counts seven-year-old Harry and four-year-old George, can decide to either enjoy the house for themselves, rent it out or sell it, and don’t have to be concerned with legal fees and stamp duties, as they have already been taken care of by Omaze. Not believing his luck, the day after being told about the house and the hefty sum he won, Mr Satherley also discovered to have won a £10 gift voucher. He commented: “I thought I must be the luckiest man in Wales.” Alongside showering the Satherleys with prizes, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw also raised £2,150,000 to support The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) – a charity “very close” to the father’s heart. He added: “I’m running the Cardiff half-marathon for the NSPCC in October. […] My run might not match the £2,150,000 Omaze raised but every little helps – I can start training in my new home gym now!”
