The Strictly judge, 58, on his BBC friends, high heels and fake breasts, marriage plans and a cheeky cheeseboard
How do famous names spend their precious downtime? In our weekly My Saturday column, celebrities reveal their weekend virtues and vices. This week: Craig Revel Horwood
I wake up in a different place every Saturday, as I’m on tour with the musical Annie, playing Miss Hannigan. It’s always at 8am, no matter what time I go to bed.
I teach a ChiChi Fit class – the location changes depending on which city we’re in. I’m in good shape except for my toes. Wearing Miss Hannigan’s high heels for two shows a day has ruined them.
Once Strictly starts, I arrive at the BBC studios in Borehamwood for the show. This is my 20th year as a judge, but every year there’s a cast change and a new audience so I never get jaded. Losing Len [Goodman, who died in April this year] feels similar to when we lost Brucie. They’re in my head and in my soul. I hear echoes of ‘seveeeen’ all night. I used to hear them in the street and get annoyed, but now I embrace it.
