One of Australia’s most high-profile health experts has suggested that Shane Warne’s fatal heart attack may have been triggered by catching Covid a few weeks earlier.
The former Australia leg-spinner died in a villa in Thailand on March 4, not long after testing positive for Covid. He was 52.
A few days later Labor party senator Kimberley Kitching also died of a suspected heart attack at the same age. She was being treated for a thyroid condition that was contributing to heart problems.
Dr Norman Swan, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s health expert, told ABC News it was “too much of a coincidence that Shane Warne and the Labor senator in Victoria died not long after a Covid infection”.
