Covid gene may have helped the lucky few dodge symptoms

Scientists have found the first evidence that people who catch Covid-19 but never develop symptoms can thank their genetics.

A study suggests that many of these “super-dodgers” carry a gene variant that helps them to fend off the virus before it causes coughs, shivers, fatigue and other signs of illness.

The study, published in the journal Nature, offers the first evidence that there is a genetic basis for asymptomatic Covid. The scientists behind the work believe that the findings could help in the development of new treatments and vaccines.
