Coronation Street could be set for a major twist involving the Rovers Return and former barmaid Gemma. It comes after the future of the Rovers hung in the balance
Coronation Street’s Gemma could be set to play a major part in the soap involving the historical Rovers Return pub.
Residents of the Weatherfield-based soap have flocked to the local pub during the highs and lows of their life but landlady Jenny recently questioned whether she could go on. As the cost of living crisis continues to grip the country, she was worried she might have had to close for good. Jenny had been trying to reduce the portion sizes to save money, but that didn’t go down well with her loyal customers.
But after much deliberation between brewery owners Philip Newton and his son Henry, the future of the Rovers was secured after Gemma Winter accepted a job as Henry’s PA. This was a major condition should the brewery purchase the fan-favourite boozer.
Before heading into the office for her first day, Gemma popped in to see her former boss Jenny to get her approval on her choice of outfit. “Well I never thought I’d say this about your fashion choices but you actually look very professional,” gushed Jenny. As she went on to say: “Eh, there’s nothing wrong with a bit of nerves,” as Gemma explained she wasn’t feeling confident.
