Corrie star makes surprise return five years after exit as new Rovers Return owner sealed

Coronation Street spoilers have teased the possible new buyer of the Rovers Return Inn pub, with a character returning to the popular ITV soap after five years away

Coronation Street will see a character return after five years next week on the ITV soap in a surprising twist. A soap actor will reprise his role for new scenes, half a decade on from his last appearance.

It comes as the Rovers Return Inn and pub faces closure and possible destruction, having been a key part of the soap since it began in 1960. But a familiar face could save the day as Henry Newton is set to the return to the ITV soap after five years away.

In upcoming scenes the pub’s fate remains unknown, after a lack of funds and business. Landlady Jenny Connor is forced to seek help and a new buyer in a bid to stop the pub from being destroyed. After she’s forced to ask brewery owner Philip Newton for help, hoping they might buy the pub from her, Jenny is disheartened to learn they do not want the venue after her attempts to impress them fall flat.

But, later in the week, someone seems keen, after bargaining with another resident they have their eye on. By the end of the week it seems viewers may know who will buy the pub and who the new owners could be.
