The Lake District was voted the best destination for value for money, followed by Cornwall and Devon. The research, commissioned by Premier Inn, found 53 per cent now go on more staycations than holidays abroad. However, parents will also spend an average of £142 on a typical day out whether it's to the beach or on attractions. Following the findings, the hotel group has created a new map to help you find the most exciting attractions at a convenient half-way point when meeting friends and family in a bid to make the school summer holidays easier. London was considered the best for attractions and activities, alongside Bath and Manchester.
