A promising young police officer who pulled a sickie to go to the races ended up resigning after rowing with another punter over a jug of Pimm’s.
Kira Wealls, 20, featured in a promotional video for Essex Police not long after joining the force, showing her transition from Tesco worker to constable.
In June, she called her boss to say she was too unwell to do the nightshift in Chelmsford, when in reality she was having a night out at Newmarket racecourse.
After the altercation there, Wealls approached police at the venue and explained she was an officer from Essex Police.
The force was alerted and Wealls quit after being placed on restricted duties and told she faced a misconduct hearing.
