Conor McGregor pokes fun at himself over first Hollywood film role

McGregor landed his first acting role in Hollywood remake of classic film Road House, and has jokingly claimed co-star Jake Gyllenhaal expected Ewan McGregor as opposed to himself

Conor McGregor has joked his co-actor Jake Gyllenhaal expected to be working with Ewan McGregor – only to be met by the UFC superstar.

McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since last July after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier and is currently closing in on a return to full training ahead of a comeback in 2023. He has also landed a role in the remake of Hollywood classic Road House alongside high-profile actor Gyllenhaal.

The Irishman has been filming in the Dominican Republic and has been putting his comeback on hold until it is completed. And in his latest social media post, McGregor posted an image of Gyllenhaal with the mocked-up caption: “I thought my co-star was Ewan McGregor”, while in another picture, an Amazon Prime official says, “Oh no, I said, ‘You ‘N’ McGregor”.

The 34-year-old former UFC champion has previously expressed his delight at landing the role and has even stated he “cannot believe” he is being paid to feature in the film. His manager Tim Simpson has revealed his UFC career will only briefly be affected while his acting role is completed before he is able to make a full return in 2023.
