Confirmed prices for the new AMD RX Radeon 7900 series have me elated

In a bid to keep its competitors on their toes, AMD has slapped a price tag on its upcoming line of RX 7900 GPUs – and you’ll be as pleased about it as I am.

The AMD event has wrapped up, with the company revealing its brand-new GPUs . And the prices are absolutely shocking! But fear not – that’s a good ‘shocking’ rather than a bad one.

The first of AMD’s new RX Radeon 7000 series graphics cards are set to launch on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. The cards are aggressively priced, which is an excellent and welcome change of pace within the world of eye-wateringly graphics cards.

The higher-end Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB will retail for $999, which roughly equates to £895.30 / AU$1587.71. The less costly option – which is the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB – comes in at $899 which translates to around £805.68 / AU$1428.78. Bear in mind, these are straight conversions. Products rarely retail at direct conversion rates across regions, so take this as a rough approximation until we get confirmed pricing.

Nvidia is undoubtedly feeling the pressure as the price of its RTX 4080, releasing on Wednesday, November 16, is significantly higher. The card will be sporting a price tag of £1,269 / $1,199 / AU$1,659. With both GPUs launching within the same window, Nvidia may have doomed itself by slapping such a high RRP on there.
