Coleen Rooney says Rebekah Vardy’s ‘evil’ texts made her sick as saga strained marriage

Vardy loses ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel case against Coleen Rooney Coleen Rooney said Rebekah Vardy’s “evil” texts read in court made her sick and at times the saga took its a toll on her marriage. In a bombshell new interview with British Vogue, Wayne Rooney’s wife has addressed the £3million libel trial for the first time. Coleen, 37, was sued for defamation by Rebekah Vardy after she publicly accused the 41-year-old of being behind an account leaking her private information to the press, in her now infamous Wagatha Christie reveal post. In the subsequent High Court case in 2022 between the celebrities, Coleen won, with Ms Justice Steyn ruling that Rebekah ‘knew of, condoned and actively engaged’ in information being passed to The Sun. ‘The texts knocked me sick,’ Coleen told British Vogue. ‘They were just another level. When I was reading them I was thinking: the evilness and the hatred that they had for someone that they don’t even know.’ READ MORE Inside Sir Michael Parkinson’s infamously painful interview with Meg Ryan Coleen Rooney has broken her silence on libel case She spoke about messages between Rebekah and her former agent in which the two discussed Coleen’s late sister Rosie, who died from Rett syndrome in 2013 at the age of 14. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects the way the brain develops. She went on to share that the pair did not have a friendship and briefly associated with one another because of their respective husbands being professional footballers – Rebekah has been married to Jamie Vardy since 2016. While Coleen seemingly doesn’t hold any ill-will towards her, she said: “I’m a forgive and forget person, I can’t be bothered with things going on and on. But this is obviously totally different. You can’t go wrong if you’re telling the truth.” Rebekah Vardy lost her libel case against Coleen Rooney SUBSCRIBE Invalid email We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
