 CoCo Lee has been laid to rest in a private service after her death at 48. The singer died in hospital at the beginning of July, with her family confirming the sad news in a statement. Tributes poured in on social media with her husband, Bruce Rockowitz, describing her as 'beautiful, warm and kind'. On Monday, her loved ones gathered at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North point to pay their respects at the private ceremony. AP reports that Lee's fellow musicians, including Elva Hsiao and Jenny Tseng, were among them. A public vigil was later held in the evening, with reports suggesting that nearly 1,000 fans also lined the streets for a final goodbye, dressed in black out of respect. Lee came to fame in 1994, at the age of 19, when she released her debut album in Taiwan – and she went on to become one of Asia's biggest stars. Her work has also been used in huge films, and she penned the theme tunes to Disney's Mulan and the acclaimed flick, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In 2016, she competed in reality show I Am A Singer, and was eventually crowned the winner. 'With great sadness, we are here [to] break the most devastating news: Coco had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months,' it read. 'Although, CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her.'
