AlphaTauri driver Daniel Ricciardo wants to return to Formula One as soon as possible after breaking a bone in his left had in August – with six races remaining in 2023
Christian Horner doesn’t expect Daniel Ricciardo to race in next weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix – but he hasn’t ruled out a return.
Ricciardo has been out of action since suffering a broken bone in his left hand ahead of the Dutch GP. He was forced to withdraw from that event, with rookie Liam Lawson replacing him and recording four impressive finishes in the last four races.
Ricciardo replaced Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s second team, after July’s British GP and was hoping to make a big impact on his return to Formula One. Red Bull chief Horner has confirmed the Aussie has done enough to secure the seat for 2024.
Yet Horner is refusing to rush Ricciardo back ahead of schedule. The driver is set to miss the Qatar GP on October 8 but should return for the United States GP on October 22. Horner has also confirmed Lawson will be considered for a seat in 2025.
