 A kindergarten teacher who poisoned 25 of her students, eventually killing one of them, has been executed in China. Wang Yun was put to death yesterday, according to a notice posted outside the No. 1 Intermediate Court in the Henan province city of Kiazuo. The 40-year-old had been convicted of putting toxic sodium nitrite in porridge served to children at Mengmeng Pre-school Education on March 27, 2019. It's believed she carried out the attack after having an argument with a colleague over 'student management'. While other pupils recovered fairly quickly, one youngster died from multiple organ failure after 10 months of treatment, the notice said. Wang, a high-school dropout, had previously poisoned her husband with the same substance, which she bough online two years ago. He suffered mild injuries and survived. It's not known whether she intended to kill or just make her husband and the students ill, but her acts were said to be revenge. Her appeal was rejected and the penalty was carried out at an execution ground. It's thought China executes more prisoners every year than the rest of the world combined, although the state keep the actual figure secret. Executions tend to be carried out with a bullet to the back of the head, although lethal injection using mobile units have also be used in the past. Attacks on young students have become a disturbing trend in China in recent years, most carried out by knife-wielding assailants described as mentally disturbed or bearing grudges against individuals or society.
