Chelsea’s Boehly given two-month window to sign Dembele at half price

Chelsea have been gifted another chance to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele for a cut-price fee, though they only have a two-month window to take advantage. The France international extended his contract at the Camp Nou over the summer amid interest from the Blues and Paris Saint-Germain.After a shaky start to the season that has seen Thomas Tuchel depart and Graham Potter arrive, the Blues are expected to spend big in the January transfer window to provide the latter with players who fit his mould. Todd Boehly is keen to back his new manager and is already known to be willing to spend big.Recruiting a forward was a priority over the summer but a true marquee signing never arrived. Though Barca appear keen to avoid that scenario with some speculating that they are already preparing to open talks with Dembele to extend his contract further.Dembele had to be persuaded to remain with the Catalan club over the summer but eventually decided to commit to Xavi’s project at the Camp Nou. He has since made 20 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring five and assisting seven.
