The 24-year-old, who is known for his tenacity out of possession, has a £20m release clause in his contract. And Sky Sports say Chelsea triggered that clause on Thursday, with Adams set to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours. Southampton are believed to be holding out for £50m for the midfielder, having rejected three proposals from Liverpool. Chelsea remain keen to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton but the club are not moving from their £100m valuation of the Ecuador ace.
