Leclerc’s existing Ferrari deal expires at the end of 2024, the same as his team-mate Carlos Sainz, but neither of them are yet close to signing a fresh contract
Charles Leclerc rubbished a rumour claiming he has penned fresh terms with Ferrari.
The Monegasque racer has been the team’s talisman since he first took a race seat with the Scuderia in 2019. That five-year deal he signed â rarely do Formula 1 driver contracts run for so long â was a signal from the team that it intended to build its’ future around the exciting young racer.
Almost four years later, and Leclerc is still on the same contract. There is a little over 12 months still to run on that deal and so there is no urgency yet from either side to agree to a new arrangement.
Reports from France claimed Leclerc had already signed an extension. But the driver has now set the record straight and told Italian publication Corriere dello Sport that the rumours are false.
