Charles ‘biggest tour ever’ questioned as King isn’t ‘exciting’

A Royal tour is reportedly being planned in Australia to coincide with celebrations for the country’s first parliament. The claim was made in a programme of events released by New South Wales Legislative Council, which said a ‘much-anticipated Royal visit in 2024’ promises to be ‘a highlight’. It has been reported that King Charles III is planning a huge royal tour to usher in his reign, visiting Australia, New Zealand and several Caribbean Commonwealth countries. Whilst the late Queen Elizabeth II went to Australia many times as Sovereign, none of her male predecessors managed to get to the country during their reign. Her father King George VI visited in 1926 when he was the Duke of York, and her uncle, Edward VIII, visited Australia in 1920 when he was the Prince of Wales. Prior to this, her grandfather toured the country in 1901 when he was heir to the throne, after his father had to cancel following the death of Queen Victoria.According to The Mirror, King Charles wants to embark on a solo tour, leaving Queen Camilla ‘to attend to her personal projects at home’. I need something that feels a little more exciting about all of these moments.’Ms Fiorito added: ‘Charles needs to really step up the panache,’ before Ms Bowie said: ‘I think he can pull it off. If anyone can pull it off. It’s him.’ Sources have suggested that the Firm could undertake as many trips as the Queen did during the whole of the Seventies when the late monarch visited 52 Commonwealth countries and 21 other countries in order to mark her Silver Jubilee.The King has reportedly started discussions with his advisers about visits to Australia and Canada ‘as soon as possible’. Ahead of the coronavirus pandemic, it was thought William and Kate were planning to visit, following a series of devastating wildfires across Australia in 2019.Asked by ITV News recently about a possible royal visit, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said there had been ‘some preliminary discussions about the now Prince and Princess of Wales visiting Australia’ .Mr Albanese, who wants to replace the King as head of state and transition to a republic, said the Prince and Princess were welcome to bring their children. Despite wanting to become a republic, Mr Albanese is unlikely to call a referendum on the issue before Australia’s next general election. Following the Queen’s death, the Prime Minister was asked about the issue and said it was ‘a discussion for another time’.
