Celtic to make South Korean pair their latest recruits from Asia

Celtic are close to growing their contingent of Asian players to nine by completing deals for South Korean pair Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu.

Lengthy talks to land 21-year-old Yang from Gangwon FC in K League 1 have finally reached a breakthrough and the winger is expected to be formally announced soon as a Celtic player. The deal will be worth £2.1 million to the Korean club which had been reluctant to sell him even as Yang publicly expressed his desire to join the Scottish champions. Yang was the K-League’s young player of the year in 2022.

Celtic are also eager to bring Kwon from the second tier Korean club Busan IPark. The 22-year-old central midfielder will move when personal terms are finalised, with Busan
