The distraught dad described his son as a 'bright, charismatic young man' who 'had lots of friends and loved to travel.' John was spotted on CCTV walking along Stewart Avenue not far from where his body was recovered. The medical examiner's report has yet been officially released with a spokesperson saying toxicology reports are still pending. The family has said they have been given no indication that foul play was involved in John's death. 'Right now we're just focusing on the fact that in 27 years, he has impacted a lot of people,' his dad said. 'We're just trying to honour his life. We're trying to move past all of that now – you know, it's not easy.' A statement from the NYPD reads: "On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at approximately 1109 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an aided individual in the Newtown Creek located in the vicinity of 1100 Grand Street, within the confines of the 90 Precinct.
