Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman hopes to have a ‘huge party’ before she dies after revealing that she is in favour of euthanasia after being inspired by the death of her brother’s friend in Holland, where euthanasia is legal
Carol Vorderman would like to be euthanised, when her time is approaching, and wants her final words to be: “Stop the Tories.”
Euthanasia is the practise of intentionally ending life to eliminate pain and suffering. Different countries have different euthanasia laws. In the Netherlands and Belgium, euthanasia is understood as ‘termination of life by a doctor at the request of a patient’, however, in the UK, it still remains illegal.
The presenter, 62, wants to throw a big, final party, having been inspired by the death of her brother’s friend in Holland, where euthanasia is legal. She hopes the UK considers legalising the termination of life under exceptional circumstances too.
“Dave had terminal cancer and had decided that he wanted Euthanasia,” she explains of her brother’s late pal. They had the party and the next day, Dave died. The same people then went to the funeral. I thought, âhow dignified and wonderful that was’.
