Carlos Sainz has endured a difficult season but has been on a resurgence since the summer break, scoring two podiums, including a win at the Singapore Grand Prix amid doubts over his future
Carlos Sainz has admitted that his improved form in recent races will strengthen his position in his upcoming contract talks with Ferrari.
Sainz has endured a disappointing year, failing to finish on the podium in any of the first 13 races of the season. His fortunes have dramatically changed since the summer shutdown though, finishing fifth at Zandvoort, third at Monza and winning in Singapore.
The win was his first since last year’s British Grand Prix and just the second of his career. It was a timely upturn in form for the Spaniard, with his contract at Ferrari having just over a year left to run.
While his partnership with Charles Leclerc has been mostly successful, there have been some doubts over his future at the Scuderia. But Sainz has now insisted that his improved results will help him at the negotiating table.
