Carlos Alcaraz is one of tennis’ most dominant forces despite being just 20 years old, with the two-time Grand Slam winner one of the favourites to win the US Open
Men’s tennis No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has got even on all of his Grand Slam losses since Roland Garros in 2021, except retirees – with German Alexander Zverev next in his crosshairs ahead of their US Open quarter-final clash.
The 20-year-old won his second Grand Slam this summer, defeating tennis legend Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon men’s final. He’s hoping to win back-to-back Slams with victory in New York at the US Open.
But standing in his way of a semi-final place is old rival Zverev, who beat the Spaniard in the quarter-finals of the French Open in 2022. And should history repeat itself, Zverev will become the sixth name on Alcaraz’s revenge tour.
Alcaraz has a perfect record at getting even with tennis stars who have beaten him at a Grand Slam apart from retirees. The one player who he hasn’t managed to beat following a Grand Slam loss was 24-year-old Swede Mikael Ymer, who retired earlier this year. Alcaraz lost to Ymer in the second round of the 2021 Australian Open.
