A keen Real Madrid fan, the world No 1 advised the footballer to sign for his favourite club. It comes as Alcaraz is set to play his first tour-level event since winning Wimbledon, as he is the top seed in Toronto this week. Alcaraz is gearing up for his first official tournament since being crowned the Wimbledon champion in an epic five-set final against Novak Djokovic. But there’s something else on the Spaniard’s mind, as he has weighed into Mbappe’s ongoing transfer debacle. The 24-year-old decided not to renew his contract with his current club PSG – which is due to expire next year – and was put up for sale and left out of their pre-season tour in Japan. With his future now up in the air, the two-time Grand Slam champion said he wanted to see Mbappe join Real Madrid. Speaking ahead of the Toronto Masters, the 20-year-old said: ‘Every Madridista wants to see Mbappe in Madrid. He is one of the best players in the world right now and all the teams love him.’ Kylian Mbappe previously denied reports that he was off to Real Madrid (Image: Getty) Pushing Mbappe into joining his favourite team, Alcaraz added: ‘I hope we read some news that Mbappe is going to Madrid. I would love that.’ It comes after the footballer was forced to deny rumours that he was off to Real Madrid. In June, Mbappe tweeted: ‘LIES… At the same time, the bigger it is, the more it passes. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy.’ While Alcaraz will wait with bated breath to see if the Frenchman does indeed go back on his word and head to Madrid, he will be busy in Canada. Alcaraz is making his debut in Toronto, with the tournament switching between Montreal and the Ontario city every year. The Spaniard has a bye into the second round as the top seed and awaits the winner of a clash between Ben Shelton and Bernabe Zapata Miralles.
